About the Play and the author...
Hoping to gather material for his next novel, Charles Condomine invites Madame Arcati, an eccentric medium, to his house to conduct a séance.
The scheme backfires when, following the séance, the ghost of his
annoying and temperamental first wife, Elvira, haunts him. Elvira makes
continual attempts to disrupt Charles' marriage to his second wife,
Ruth, who cannot see or hear the ghost.
Sir
Noël Peirce Coward was an English playwright, composer, director, actor
and singer, known for his wit, flamboyance, and what Time magazine
called "a sense of personal style, a combination of cheek and chic, pose
and poise".
